1990s: Changing Environment

Innovation was engrained in our fabric: it was during the 1990s that we became the first Montessori school in the world to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and the first Montessori school in Western Australia to offer a secondary program.

Mrs Duyker-de-Vries had a passion for music so the School had an African Drumming Concert and established a school choir. The 1990s saw also the construction of the first basketball court.

The School formed the Management Committee, so a plan was made for the retirement of the first Principal of the School, Mrs Duyker-de-Vries, which led to Bobbie Beasley and Jane Coffey taking over as Co-Principals of the School.

The first five-year plan happened during that time and so was the Building on Solid Foundation, which was a plan formed to move the School into the future as new buildings were needed to accommodate our growing student numbers.
