The Montessori School is an independent school for children aged 3 to 18 years, covering the areas from pre-primary through to International Baccalaureate (Year 12). Entry to the Montessori School is at the 3-6 year old level, with most children starting the term after their third birthday. If vacancies arise, transfers from Montessori or other philosophically compatible backgrounds may be accepted for other age groups. Transfers will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
The Montessori education system is based on Dr Maria Montessori’s scientific observations in which she discovered that learning is an exciting process of discovery for the child, fulfilling an innate desire to become a competent, independent individual. Hence our school motto “Help me to do it myself”.
The School’s view is that it is essential that the choice of a Montessori Education is an informed choice. To that end, you are encouraged to learn as much as possible about Montessori Education. Details of parent education opportunities can be found on the school information page of this page.
